New Years resolution copyWe are well into the New Year now  and I want to be the angel on your shoulder that says “Hey, lighten up! Be sweet to yourself this year. You deserve it. You deserve authentic happiness” It has taken me years to grasp this concept. But, now I do have it down. I try not to do anything to the point of drudgery. In fact, research shows that successful people take lots of breaks. It refreshes the mind. It refreshes the soul. It clears the way to new and fresh perspective on whatever you are working on.

And, while you’re at it, don’t just take those refreshing pauses throughout the work day, take time each week to schedule in some social fun. Research shows that a rich social life increases one’s longevity! Strong social connection leads to a 50% increased chance of longevity, while on the other side of that coin one study showed that lack of social connection is a greater detriment to health than obesity, smoking and high blood pressure. Geez – we know these things increase our authentic happiness and leads to a better life experience, so let’s get on the horn now and plan that Super Bowl game!

Blessings and balance (call your friends — often)!
